Arlington Construction Update
(Continued from page 1)
the Town of Arlington will
begin steps to shore up
some safety issues to
access the property to make
public fishing available at
the lake, located northwest
of the intersection of
Highway 70 and State
Route 385.
•Donelson
Farms
Parkway (Airline Road to I
-269)—This is a proposed
new portion of road
between Airline Road at
Donelson Elementary to I-
269. This two-lane addition
will help improve traffic
flow and provide a straight
pathway between Airline
Road and I-269, “Winfield
Dunn Parkway.”
This
project is a TDOT Funded
Grant Project.
• Airline Road Widening
from I-40 South to Brooks
River Road—This is a
100% spot safety project by
TDOT to widen this
portion of roadway to
provide a turn lane into the
Trails of Arlington and
Brooks
Manor
subdivisions.
• Highway 70 from SR -
385 to Airline Road
Intersection Improvement
and Signalization— The
intersection of Jetway and
Highway 70 is the gateway
to the Arlington Industrial
area and sees a lot of
commercial traffic. This
project
will
widen
Highway 70 from 385 to
Airline with a new turn
signal at Jetway. The Town
awarded the contract for
the environmental phase
and design to Kimley Horn
Engineering as consultants
for the project. This project
is in the right-of-way
(ROW) acquisition phase
and is a TDOT Funded
Grant Project.
• Airline Road Widening
between Hall Creek Bridge
and
Arlington
High
School—Like the above
project, the Town has
awarded a contract for the
environmental and design
portion only to Fisher
Arnold Engineering. The
Town is currently in the
right-of-way
(ROW)
acquisition phase of this
TDOT Funded Grant
Project.
Arlington Mayor Mike
Wissman is positive about
the recent surge in
construction.
“We are excited to see
many of these projects
moving forward,” stated
Wissman. There is great
growth
and
new
development in the Square,
which will make it an even
better destination for food,
shopping
and
entertainment. We also
have commercial growth
popping up all over, and
expansion in our industrial
district. This is all due to
our continued growth in
new residential homes and
an
excellent
school
system.”
