Briarcrest student Benjamin Cheng was one of three area students selected to receive a “Bravo Award” at the 2016 Orpheum High School Musical Awards. The Bravo Award recognizes the talent of students who had outstanding performances but are ineligible to compete for the Orpheum Musical Theatre Awards because they are not yet in high school. Cheng was honored for his tap dancing performance as a chimney sweep (pictured below) and role of Neleus, a park statue that comes to life. Cheng recently completed his 8th grade year at BCS. BCS Golfer Wins Championship Lakeland Resident Named to All-Region LAX Team BCS rising freshman Drew Miller of Arlington won the United States Junior Golf Tour Boys High School Championship in a three hole sudden death playoff. Photo Courtesy of Shelly Cheng Lakeland’s Megan Cheng Performs on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” with Briarcrest’s OneVoice Briarcrest Christian School’s highly-acclaimed a cappella singing group, OneVoice will be featured as an act on NBC’s hit television show “America’s Got Talent” airing on Tuesday nights this summer. “It was an absolutely amazing experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat,” said Cheng, pictured above in the front row, second from the left. Although “America’s Got Talent” has previously featured a cappella groups on the show, this is the first time that a group like this from the Memphis-area will be showcased. “’America’s Got Talent’ was an incredible experience,” remarked OneVoice director J.D. Frizzell. “The students got to meet many celebrities, while learning a lot about the television industry. Arlington High School is proud to announce that senior Dylan Arendale has signed a scholarship to play golf next year at Christian Brothers University. Dylan is the first golfer from AHS to sign to play on the collegiate level. AHS Golf Coach Carl Pfeiffer says “Dylan is the first inductee into the AHS Golf Hall of Fame for being the first 4-year varsity golfer in school history. Pfeifer-AHS Dominic Keilty, a resident of Lakeland and honors student at Christian Brothers High Sschool recently signed with Butler University to run Track. Dominic qualified for the 2016 TN State Championship in the triple jump and was part of the 2015 TN State Qualifying 4 X 400 team. He was the Gold Medal winner of the 2105 South Eastern AAU District Championship in the triple Jump. He will be enrolled in the Honors Business Program at Butler.
