Arlington Wrestling has opened the 2016-2017 season with a flurry of successes and strong finishes at local tournaments and competition . Since beginning the season in late October , the Arlington Wrestling Club Bobcats ( photo , above ) have competed in three local tournaments to include Mayhem in Memphis at Christian Brothers High School , the Collierville Little Dragon Classic at Collierville High School and the Elite Wrestling Tournament at the Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy .
Twenty-four Bobcats placed at the Mayhem in Memphis tournament with three tournament champions while fifteen Bobcats placed at the Collierville Little Dragon Classic with three tournament champions and thirty-four Bobcats placed at the Elite Wrestling Tournament with six tournament champions . In addition to securing a first place finish at the Elite Wrestling Tournament ,

Bobcat Captain Adam Milton was also recognized as the Outstanding Wrestler for his age group .
The success of the Arlington Wrestling Club Bobcats has been mirrored by the Arlington High School Tigers ( see photo
below , right ). The Tigers began their road to a 2017 Region Championship with a solid showing at the annual Turkey Duals at Houston High School with a 2-1 finish defeating both Houston and Southwind but falling short to a strong
Bartlett team . The Tigers then traveled to Nashville and faced some excellent teams at the Father Ryan Duals . At the Father Ryan Duals the Tigers posted victories over Fariview and Dixon County but fell short against Montgomery Bell
Academy , Clarksville Northwest and Father Ryan . The Tigers lost a close one to Father Ryan losing the meet in the final match .

Briarcrest Senior Trey Harrington of Lakeland has signed a Letter of Intent to continue playing baseball with Southeastern Louisiana University . Trey is a shortstop for the Briarcrest baseball team . After his junior season , Trey was selected All West Region and also named to the Memphis Commercial Appeal “ Best of Preps ” team . This past summer Trey was selected to the Tennessee Baseball Coaches West Team and also played for Team Tennessee in the Southeastern Conference games in Troy , Alabama . Trey is a Perfect Game Underclass All-American and a two-time Perfect Game WWBA All-Tournament selection . SLU is a NCAA Division 1 school which competes in the Southland Conference . They have won 120 games the past 3 years and have been to 2 NCAA Regional tournaments .

Individual placers at the Stewart Schay Black Horse Invitational included Luke Kerns , Austin Miller and Alan Roaten with 7th places finishes ; Austin Antcliffe with a 6th place finish ; William Erickson , Austin Baudoin and Justin Donahue
with 5th place finishes ; Michael Cannon with a 4th place finish ; Jonathan Metcalf , Aaron Moore and Caleb Morgan with 3rd place finishes and Harrison Phillips with a 2nd place finish . The Bobcats and Tigers look build upon these early successes as they move forward in the season .

Joseph Hillyard of Lakeland recently signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Lindenwood University in St Charles MO . Jospeh is currently a senior that swims for MHEA ( Memphis Home Education Association ) . He has been a Commercial Appeal “ Best of the Preps ” for 4 years and also swims for Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club .
