Lakeland Christmas Festival
Story and photos by Kim Odom, Special to THE VIEW 38002
After filling in her Wish List at the craft
table, Breanna King, 5 (left), told Santa her
Christmas wishes when she visited him at the
City of Lakeland’s second annual Christmas
Festival, Friday, Dec. 9, at International
Harvester Clubhouse.
Lakeland Elementary Recorder Club students
were sheltered from frigid temperatures with
tents and heaters as they played Christmas
tunes, under the direction of Dianne Davis
(below, left), music specialist at Lakeland
Elementary.
Santa was escorted to the IH Clubhouse by
Shelby County Fire Engine 61. As he exited the
truck he was greeted with lots of hugs and high
fives by the children as he made his way to the
Christmas tree located in front of the Clubhouse
on Canada Road.
All eyes were on the outdoor Christmas tree
as Santa lit it with his Christmas magic on a
countdown led by Mayor Wyatt Bunker (above,
right).
Pictured right, Sisters Savannah Scholten

Christmas Wish Lists at one of the craft tables
before seeing Santa.
