Arlington Parade Honors “Heroes at Christmas”
By Nancy Hooper, Main Street Arlington
The Town of Arlington and Main Street Arlington present for your
family entertainment the
22nd Annual Arlington
Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 7 at 4:00
pm. The theme this year
is Heroes at Christmas (provided by Aaron
Bridges). As you know, a
hero is anyone who has
played an important role
directly or indirectly in
our lives. The route begins on Chester St. at
Douglass St., follows
north on Chester to Walker St., turns left on Walker and ends at Walker and
Quintard.
We are pleased to
announce the Grand Marshall this year is Gina
Gore, Principle of Arlington Elementary School.
This honor was given
because the school received the award for academic excellence for
being in the top 5%
statewide.
The entries will be
judged on aesthetic quality, originality and thematic relevancy. The judges
this year are Arlington’s
own Mandy Morgan from
WRVR 104.5, Dennis
Turner from WREG news
Channel 3, and John Bryant from WMC Channel
5. The judges stage is
located at 6108 Chester
(in front of Christ Luther-
an Church). If you want
to see the float performances plan to sit near
this location.
The float winners
(1st, 2nd, 3rd and honorable mention, and parade
route decorations) will be
announced on the porch
of SY Wilson’s shortly
after the parade. Santa
will be in Depot Square
(at the gazebo) immediately following the parade. Everyone is wel-
come to take their own
pictures
with
Santa! Again this year we are
asking participants and
guests to help Santa provide toys to area children.
If you would like to participate, please bring a
new, un wrapped gift to
Santa after the parade or
drop it off at the judge’s
booth before or during the
parade.

program from 10 a.m.?-?12
p.m. on Saturday Decem-
ber 14th. The Lions sponsored program will run
concurrently with Visit
with Santa at the IH Clubhouse.
The goal of the Helping Hand program is to
provide children attending
