As of April 3, the Shelby County
Election Commission website
(www.voteshelby.com)
reported
that three petitions had been pulled
for the position, although no
completed petitions had yet been
submitted: Maurice Denbow, Tim
Joyce,
and
Billy
Rodgers.
Candidates have until noon on April
13 to turn in petitions.
Early voting for the Lakeland
Election will be held from May 5-
May 20. Voter registration deadline
for new voters is April 25.
In Arlington, candidates have
until June 15 to return petitions for
the September 21 Alderman and
School Board Elections. There are
four contested positions on the
Board of Aldermen instead of the
normal three, due to the resignation
last year of Gerald McGee. McGee
was replaced with former Vice-
Mayor and Alderman Hugh Lamar,
who is not running in 2017. The
other positions up for grabs are #4,
5, and 6, which are currently held
by Oscar Brooks, Harry McKee,
and Brian Thompson. The three
contested positions on the Arlington
School Board are #1, 3, and 5,
currently held by Danny Young,
Kevin Yates, and Dale Viox.
