Arlington Wrestling Club Finishes Strong
By Tony Baudoin , Special to THE VIEW 38002
Arlington Wrestling Club wrestlers live up to the team ’ s motto and “ Finish Strong ” ending their regular folkstyle ( HS and College format ) season at the TN AAU State Championships on February 25th . The Bobcats cap off an extremely successful season with their best showing to date at this year ’ s State Championships .
The Bobcats qualified during their regional championships , and traveled a record 20 wrestlers to the Franklin TN state tournament . The Bobcats finished the tournament with a record team score of 104 points and a Top 25 team ranking .
In addition to the cumulative team score , the Bobcats had a record number of individuals earn TN AAU State Placer Medals , which award the top six wrestlers in the state in their individual age and weight groups .
Individual placements were led by Parker Ethridge ( 3rd Place ) and Jackson Taylor ( 3rd Place ). Levi Johnson earned a 4th place finish . The remaining three medalist consisted of the Bobcat ' s team captains and 8th graders , Adam Milton ( 5th Place ), Gavin Haynes ( 5th Place ) and Hayden Baudoin ( 6th Place ).
“ The Bobcats competed extremely well and it was no surprise . These athletes have been working hard all season to peak when they needed to . It was a great team effort to get them there , partners , parents , coaches , etc … All of these athletes were disciplined , physically and mentally tough ,” saidHead Coach Chris Nettleton .
The Bobcats are transitioning several wrestlers that played key leadership roles in the team ’ s success , over the past several years , into High School . The team was led by 8th graders
Hayden Baudoin , Gavin Haynes , Isaac Jordan , Sam Lee , Adam Milton , and Chase Rozelle .
“ It is our club goal to provide Arlington High School with experienced wrestlers to continue to propel the Tigers ’ success and I feel confident that those headed to Arlington will do so ,” added Nettlton .
“ It ’ s bitter-sweet when you graduate athletes from your program , especially some that you have coaches since they were in 2nd grade , but I am extremely proud of the impact they left on the club and excited to see what they will accomplish at the next level .”
The Bobcats didn ’ t spend too much time resting on their laurels and have already begun training for their Freestyle and Greco-Roman seasons ( World and Olympic formats ). They are looking to carry the success and momentum from the regular
season into the spring season .
The Arlington Wrestling Club will hold its annual camp from May 30 – June 2nd . More details may be found at ww . ArlingtonBobcatWrestling . Com
