Once in a land, far, far away
In a time forgotten by angels and mortals,
There lived an aged man, wilting, crumbling, astray
He had no kin, no lovers nor children,
Only the memories of a lover he was once given
A lover who loved him to death, yet he threw her love
away.
Then one day, he stumbled upon
In a meadow of green, of crops in circles,
A time machine, which he could run
And he thought to himself, “What a marvelous thing!”
I could use this to give my lost lover a wedding ring!
And so he went, into a time long gone.
A Love Forgotten
Into a time when their love was still strong
He went about, correcting his mistakes,
Cherishing her love, instead of doing her wrong
And when the day came, he knelt to the ground,
Handing her a ring, which she accepted in a bound
Then thinking his job was complete, he climbed back into
the time machine saying, “So long!”
But something was not right, in the time where he
belonged
He was still an old man, childless and abandoned
Thinking to himself, “What have I done wrong?”
Oh, I must find that time machine once more!
Alas, the machine was gone for sure.
And so fate has taught him a lesson: cherish your loved
ones, for they are not lifelong.
