With Bishop Patrick J. McGrath presiding, the graduates gathered with family, friends, parish staffs, alumni and current students for evening prayer and to celebrate the completion of the three year formation program. They are a resilient group of individuals who have supported each other through many challenges such as the death of family members and serious illness. They also found time for some leisure–potluck lunches and Christmas caroling at Santana Row. Starting out as strangers, they built strong friendships and learned about each other’s cultures. During these three years, many students have shared with me how much they have grown in knowledge and faith and have come od eL ter ial By Linda Cunha-Ricchio Insti tut Institute for Leadership in Ministry Graduates Class of 2015 eadership or L in ef try inis M www.valleycatholiconline.com Bishop Patrick J. Now many of the graduates are seeking their “next steps”. Some have applied to the Permanent Deacon and Advanced Lay Leader formation programs; others have accepted greater responsibility in parish ministry. Still others are continuing to discern with their pastors where they are most needed. There are so many people to thank at this time: Bishop McGrath for his ongoing support of the Institute, the pastors and parish staffs who encouraged and supported the graduates; the faculty who shared their knowledge and insights; and, finally the families of the graduates who supported them during their years of study. It has been an honor to accompany the Class of 2015 on their journey. We thank them, send them forth, and look forward to the contributions they will continue to make throughout the Diocese of San Jose.
