Cemeteries to celebrate Memorial Day with
special veterans’ tribute
By Kathy Fanger
Parish Outreach Coordinator
Catholic Cemeteries
All parishioners are invited Memorial Day, Mon., May 26, 10:30 am, to the
annual Veterans’ Tributes and Memorial Day Masses at Calvary and Gate of
Heaven Catholic Cemeteries, to pray
for loved ones who are interred there.
Several special tributes will be
added to the program this year: a Memorial Tribute Wall, a wreath-laying
ceremony, and patriotic music. Veterans, active military personnel and their
families are invited to participate in the
tributes and/or Masses.
To especially be remembered are all
those who have served in the military,
particularly those who gave their lives
for the country. There will be prayer
for men and women currently serving
in the Armed Forces and for POW and
MIA soldiers, and prayer for the end
of hostility and violence in the world.
Catholic Cemeteries are proud to
partner with members of the Armed
Services, the American Legion, and the
San Jose Veterans Center in a special
Veterans’ Tribute which begins at 10:30
am at Gate of Heaven, (22555 Cristo Rey
Drive, Los Altos, CA 94024) and will be
held at the Pavilion area where Mass
will follow at 11 am. Auxiliary Bishop
Thomas A. Daly will be main celebrant.
