Catholic Charities first annual Charity Run On April 5, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County held its first annual Charity Run, Spring Forward 5k/10k Walk/Run, held in Mountain View on the Microsoft campus, to benefit families in the county. More than 1,200 people registered. In addition to the host sponsor, Microsoft, several other Silicon Valley companies supported the race. Greg Kepferle, CEO of Catholic Charities, said, “We would like to thank everyone who participated and volunteered. You helped raise funds for a great cause: helping people and families living in poverty to improve their lives.” An anonymous donor offered a $1,000 award to the parish that registered the largest number of participants -- Holy Spirit Parish in San Jose. Kepferle added that Catholic Charities would also like to recognize the other 14 parishes that participated: St. Anthony, St. Frances Cabrini, St. Christopher, St. Martin of Tours and Holy Family, San Jose; St. Clare and St. Lawrence, Santa Clara; St. Simon and St. Nicholas, Los Altos; Church of the Ascension, Saratoga; St. Lucy, Campbell; St. Mary, Los Gatos; St. John the Baptist, Milpitas; St. Joseph, Mtn. View. “We have been blessed by the support of many individuals, corporations and parishes. Your generosity heals hearts and promises hope for tomorrow,” Kepferle said.
