Archbishop Mitty High School received the top distinction as a Platinum Level School by Catholic Relief Services on April 5 at their annual Solidarity Dinner . It was fitting that the Archbishop Mitty community was recognized by CRS at this event , as it brings immersion trip participants , friends , and family together to share stories from trips and inspire all with what they have learned from their global experiences .
This past year , Archbishop Mitty has partnered with CRS through a Day of Peace all-school assembly , Fair Trade promotion during Advent , and advocacy work in Washington , DC . Recognized as a Platinum Level School ,
The Saint Lucy Pre-Kindergarten program features a warm and energetic atmosphere that links seamlessly with the kindergarten program . Saint Lucy Pre-Kindergarten fosters a love of learning in a faith-based environment as well as providing students an opportunity to develop cooperative learning , conflict resolution skills , and socialization and communication .

Archbishop Mitty Receives Honor from Catholic Relief Services
Mitty serves as a model and resource for other Catholic high schools in the region through its commitment to global solidarity through education , service , advocacy , and charitable efforts . Archbishop Mitty is the only high school in the Diocese of San Jose that participates in the CRS Global High School program .
Saint Lucy Pre-K Students Learn Using the Rainbow Pre-K students enhanced math skills using colored cereal rings for sorting , counting , and spatial sense and color identification to study rainbows . Utilizing repetition through song , they learned the rainbow color order . In addition , they improved fine motors skills as they covered each rainbow color band with the coordinating colored cereal piece . As rewards , students were able to enjoy tasting the different fruit-flavored cereal ring
Last year , the Archbishop Mitty community raised more than $ 12,000 for CRS Rice Bowl , a Lenten program that engages participants through prayer , learning , acting , and giving . This year , their dedicated efforts continue . 75 percent of gifts will support CRS ’ humanitarian programs around the world , while 25 percent will remain in the Diocese of San Jose to support programs geared towards hunger and poverty alleviation .
Thomas Awiapo of Ghana , employee of CRS , came with a message of gratitude and shared his personal experience of how his life was forever changed after CRS came to his village and built
All students participate in the morning Pre-K program five days per week from 8 a . m . to noon . New for the 2017- 2018 school year , Saint Lucy Pre-K students will have the option of an enhanced afternoon program . Students may continue their day in the afternoon program with the option of a dismissal time at either 3 - 5 p . m . The afternoon program is available for the students to attend either three or five days per week .

a school . Growing up , Awiapo shared how he was not a fan of school , but starvation was a reality for him and his family . At school , he knew he would get a “ little snack ” - one that he later came to know , were from the funds raised by the Rice Bowl program .
Ken Preston , Relationship Manager in the West Region of CRS , presented the plaque to Tim Wesmiller , Director of Campus Ministry at Archbishop Mitty High School . Thomas Awiapo concluded by saying , “ Thank you . Thank you for your service to humanity . Thank you for your service to the world . I know you do it a lot . A little snack makes all the difference .”

Students at Resurrection School Help Those in Need
Students in grades 3-6 at Resurrection School came together to make 200 Easter baskets filled with toiletries and treats for the women and children clients of LifeMoves , an organization that provides housing and services for homeless families . The toiletries , treats and craft supplies were donated by the school community . The next day students delivered the baskets and toured the facilities of LifeMoves .
