Data protection and freedom of information
Relocation
Information held on the University’s systems should be
treated with total confidentiality and maintained to the highest
standards of accuracy. All staff have responsibility for managing
information. Data of a personal nature relating to staff, students
or others is covered by data protection legislation and must be
kept secure at all times. As a public body, the University is also
subject to the legislation on freedom of information. An online
training module can be accessed through the Staff Development
web pages at www.hull.ac.uk/staffdevelopment.
Relocation policy
Equality and diversity
If you need to find temporary accommodation, the University
has two guest houses on the Hull Campus that can be booked
at a reasonable rate for short-term stays. For something longer
term, the University website offers information and links to
a number of other conveniently situated and well-appointed
accommodation such as bed and breakfast, self-catering and
hotels in the Hull and Scarborough areas. Details can be found
by going to www.hull.ac.uk , then clicking on ‘about’ then
‘Visitors’ tab from the left-hand menu.

members of staff, where eligible, claim expenses associated
with the cost of relocating to the University of Hull (both Hull
and Scarborough Campuses). Contact the Human Resources
Directorate for further details and to check if you may be
eligible.

It is important that all new members of staff familiarise
themselves with a number of key University policies. The
complete range of policies, covering all aspects of your
employment and work in the University, can be accessed via
the University’s internal staff portal (select the ‘Services and
Support’ tab, then ‘Human Resources’, then ‘Alphabetical
Contents List’, then ‘Policy Documents’). Alternatively, paper
copies can be obtained from your local Human Resources
Administrator.
