Minerva – Women’s Network
Coaching Practitioners Network
Minerva aims to provide a supportive network and to increase
the visability of women in the University. It provides an
opportunity for women in all academic roles to meet and
exchange experiences and ideas.
The Coaching Practitioners Network brings together
professional coaches from across the Universiity in a bid to
share experiences, learn from each other and gain a greater
insight into professional practice. The network is principally for
those qualified as practitioners.
Contract research staff
The Concordat to Support the Career Development of
Researchers is an agreement between funders and employers
that seeks to support good management of researchers
and their careers. The concordat stresses the importance of
professional development activity for research staff, and we
have set up an email list for contract research staff as a one way
for you to find out more about courses, funding opportunities
and research skills development. To join the list contact the
Staff Development Office at contract-researchers-group@hull.

Disabled Staff Network / Black and Minority Ethnic
Staff Network / Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
Network
A number of networks have been established for staff who
share one or more aspects of their identity – such as sexual
orientation, race or disability – and those with an interest in
equality and diversity issues. Members provide mutual support,
share information and feed back on relevant University policies
and processes. To join one or more of these networks, please
contact the Equality and Diversity Unit on (01482 46)5732.
Trade unions
The University encourages staff to join the unions. This enables
collective agreements and negotiations on pay, policy and
practice matters. Each union has representatives on the Joint
Trade Unions Consultative Committee (JTUCC), where it meets
with representatives of the University to discuss issues.
University and College Union (UCU): Members include
academics, researchers, administrators, librarians and
computer staff. For further information visit www.hull.ac.uk/ucu
or call the branch secretary on (01482 46)5745.

working full or part time in local authorities; the NHS, colleges
and schools; the electricity, gas and water industries; transport;
and the voluntary sector. For further information, visit www.
unison.org.uk or call the branch secretary on (01482 46)5335.
UNITE: Members work as professional, craft, technical,
