their being broken and rebuilt. The screams were excruciatingly loud, but we didn’t look back. We stared into the eyes of a terrifying beast.

The beast had lots of fur and his razor sharp claws looked strong enough to rip through flesh and bones. His tail was like a scorpion and his face was like a man but with pointy teeth and the body of a lion. When he was finished his blood red eyes stared at us as if looking for a command to attack. My bones chilled as I saw the beast's true form.

“That’s a manticore Jackson.” Mike whispered. Xander looked at us and laughed.

“You both will be killed here. Hades and Ares will know of my name, they will fear me by killing you both.” He paused and looked over to the beast, “Kill them now!” The beast charged after us, headed towards me first. My bones chilled not willing to move from their spot.

“Jackson watch out!” Mike screamed as he pushed me away and got struck by the beast's mighty claws that sent him flying towards a wall. I stood there paralyzed watching my friend in pain. Xander laughed,

“Yes, kill them and make them suffer.” Something in my mind switched as he said that, I screamed in anger and felt the surge of power rush into my veins. I looked down at my hands and saw that they were covered in purple flames. Surprisingly, they didn’t hurt but they felt calming to me. I looked to where Mike stood,

“Mike are you alright!” Mike screamed in anger when he stood back up, as he did his eyes changed color to a bright orange, and a long pointed sword appeared in his hands. I charged at the beast and threw the purple flames on my wrist towards it effectively making it scream in pain. Mike started to swing at the beast with his new sword it slashed through and cut the manticore but swatted the sword out of Mike’s hands. The beast swung its tail and hit me into the side of the building. The pain in my body was excruciating, then I screamed again and raised my hands towards the ground. I smashed my hands on the ground and it caused a gigantic dent in the ground.
