65+ Years-on Reunion: on Tuesday
10 th October, 23 members of the senior
cohort of OWs gathered for what has
now become established as an annual
event at the Cavalry & Guards Club.
The Sub-Warden Robert Sutton (Coll,
66-71) welcomed the guests and
briefed the assembled company about
the school. Adrian Longley (C, 39-43)
replied on behalf of the guests. Smart
surroundings, good food, very old friends
– what could be better!
Winchester College Visiting
Artists Series 2017/18
Winchester College Visiting Artists
Series is delighted to be presenting six
concerts during this coming academic
year. The world-class musicians coming
to Winchester College include the
dynamic Heath Quartet, the electrifying
pianist Benjamin Grosvenor and The
Schubert Ensemble, in their final
season of touring. Some of the school’s
former pupils feature in the other
three concerts: in February 2018 we

will welcome back Adrian Brendel,
one of the most versatile cellists of his
generation, who will perform with pianist
Tim Horton, and in April one of Britain’s
foremost tenors, James Gilchrist, will
present a wonderful programme of
music by Schumann and Vaughan
Williams, with Anna Tilbrook. In the
last concert of the series, also in April,
the award-winning vocal ensemble Stile
Antico (including in its line-up former
pupil Andrew Griffiths) brings to life the
court of Queen Elizabeth
I, with music by some of
the great composers of the
Golden Age of English
music, including former
Winchester College
organist, Thomas Weelkes.
These concerts will all take
place on Sunday evenings
in the newly refurbished
New Hall. More details

Chamber Orchestra at the Barbican-
Sunday 11 th March 2018
Friends and OWs living in London are
warmly invited to come and hear the
College Chamber Orchestra performing
at Milton Court Concert Hall, Barbican
Centre, London, at 7.00pm on Sunday
11 th March 2018. The Chamber
Orchestra, led by Adrian Adlam
and conducted by Master of Music
David Thomas, will perform music by
Mendelssohn, Grieg and Haydn, while
top-year man Joseph Rhee (E) will
be the soloist in Mozart’s Bassoon
Concerto. The Chamber Orchestra
will be travelling to Hong Kong in
April, and this will be a chance to
hear them perform in advance of
their tour.
