An extremely competent ukulele
player, never losing his love of music.
Cricket was the love of his life,
together with sailing and skiing with
his partner Jennifer Rusher. He was
first and foremost a gentleman who
lived a full life.
Giles Hepburn John Myrtle (D, 41‑45):

2Lt KOSB 1947; worked in brewing
industry 1948-72: Rayments, Greene

1955-72. Continued to play cricket with
I Zingari and Free Foresters: he believed
in a Corinthian spirit of sportsmanship
and fair play. Farmer, SW Scotland
1972-2005 where he adopted more
traditional farming methods and
developed Dalreagle into a successful
cattle and sheep farm; he was also a
keen and accomplished fly fisherman.
In 2007 he settled in Nettlebed: again,
he was not slow to commit himself to
the local community, supporting the
cricket club, church, the Conservative
Association and the Royal British
Legion. His generosity as a host became
legendary and Huntercombe Golf Club
became his second home. Married 1954
Virginia Harrison, who survives him
together with 2 of their 3 sons.

Guy Lawrence Gordon Clark
(G, 41-46): died 5.1.2020. Son
of HMGC, 3rd generation of
Wykehamists, father to son. Co Prae

Sons, wine shippers 1948-88, learning
his craft in Bordeaux; director,
Finsbury Distillery 1964-88; chairman,
JE Mather & Sons 1970-88 and
Wine & Spirit Association 1969-71
and again 1981-83. The Worshipful
Company of Vintners was a hugely
important part of his life: he became
a Vintner when he was quite young
and served as Master in 1989. JP,
West Sussex, 1970-98; chairman, West
Sussex Probation Committee, 1979-
84 and involved in the restructuring
of the training of probation officers.
OBE 1982. Supported Thames
Christian School, funded bursaries
at Christ’s Hospital School and was
a governor of Forest Boys School.
Secretary to the Crawley and
Horsham Hunt and ran the annual
point to point; church warden and
on the PCC at Itchingfield. He had a
very subtle but fun sense of humour.
Married 1952 Pauline Fairrie, who
survives him together with their two
daughters.
