Unfortunately, we came across a tough, organised, talented opposition who have made it to finals day for the past three years. They also probably nipped us on pace and fitness. We had a decent side out, with Ed Marsh and Bertie Readhead adding some youth in the outfield and Ed Duncan some quality between the posts. They had a pretty clear game plan using their pace around the flanks to rain crosses in, and we withstood a barrage over the first 20 minutes. A couple of close range saves and we seemed to be drawing their sting but annoyingly a shot from range found its way into the back of the net and they had what they wanted. It was certainly not one-way traffic and with a bit of luck we’d have been in the game with goals too and seen how they managed under pressure. An unfortunate slip at the back allowed them the second
