Nevin Pot 2026 was played on Saturday 21 March, just after the end of Common Time and in glorious sunshine.
In a tough day for the referees, six knockout rounds followed the eight rounds of league matches. Every team played a minimum of six games and the eventual winners played eight. The stand-out matches were dominated by the kicks and in the short 15-minute games, a well-timed seven-post flyer could make all the difference, especially in the knockout stages, when several games went to sudden death after the final whistle.
Firm favourites after their win last year, Freddie Van Every’ s( A, 18-23) team fought their way to their second final, where they re-encountered Linden Grigg( F, 13-18) and his team of Chawkerites. Easy victors in Round 1, they narrowly lost in the Final.
Linden, whose team has won the Plate competition twice now has Nevin Pot to add to the wooden spoon they collected last year. Other past winners include the team of veterans( 2023 winners), captained in absentia by Nigel Day( F, 99-04) and Damola Odeyemi’ s( Coll, 14-19) team who won in 2024 and won the Plate in 2026. Hon Ment goes to Angus Robinson( Coll, 11-16) and his team, heavily seeded by OW dons, who came top of the league table but lost by sudden death in the semi-finals.
Nevin Pot will return on Saturday 13 th March 2027.
