The Average Teen

Teens, what are they? A person that is of the age 13 to 19. Teens, adolescents, young adults, juveniles, minors, and, youngsters.

Society says a whole different story. Teens have issues. They are dramatic, irrational. They scream and have tantrums! They read weird books, go death because of their loud rap music, and they care about many things that don’t even matter!They don’t have a good self-esteem and don’t think about consequences! They don't think about the future they only act in the present!

Is this correct, their idea? Their thinking? Are teens just a ticking time bomb ready to blow?

According to science this idea of teens is perfect, it fits the bill of a teen’s behavior. At the age of 13 a human’s brain is still developing, although it has grown to its full size it is still going through development. It continues to grow grey matter. The thinking part of the brain. The stage of growing this grey matter is very critical to the development of the brain and it is important that the brain gets through this stage safely.

So does science support this stereotype of the average teenager? How about teens themselves do they agree with this label?
