Adaptable
We all know that our daily life hardly ever goes to plan. You plan that long run, and a child gets sick. You decide no baking this week, and your best friend invites you out for coffee and cake. You organise to go on a trail walk and it buckets down with rain. For all these reasons (and the thousands more you could list) it is so important that your goals are adaptable and able to fit into your life. This helps keep you in control and less likely to feel like you are failing because you missed a training session or a catch up with a friend or a last minute trip out of town with family.
Ready
Are you ready to make change? Are you REALLY ready to set forth and achieve our goal(s)? If you truly want to achieve something you have to be ready to give it 100%. If you are not ready to do this, maybe you need to take smaller steps and adapt your goals to suit your level of commitment. There is no shame in taking longer to achieve something, you still get to the same place and it is YOUR journey.
Team
Put together your support team. You should never feel alone on your journey towards your goal. Tell people about what you are aiming to achieve, and why. What does it mean to you? You will be amazed at how many people you may inspire with your story and having a team of people supporting you, cheering for you, helping you will only aide in making the process easier for you.
The most important thing about goals is to write them down, share them with people and be consistent in your approach to making them happen, whether it be changing eating habits, reducing alcohol, training for an event or making sure you have more me time.
Use these beautiful summer days to help inspire you to get out and move. New locations are an opportunity to search out fun venues to move. Make it fun and move often!
I believe 2017 will be everything you want it to be.
