In terms of health and fitness I would like to challenge you to add another SMART. Don’t get me wrong the current SMART is still very relevant, but I believe we need to shake it up and really think bout our long term health and creating positive habits that stick with us for life. So when you are thinking of your 2017 and beyond goals, think SMART…
Sustainable
When you are setting your health and fitness goals, think about what changes you can make AND sustain for life. There are no short-term fixes, you need to make small changes that will make a positive impact on your health and keep at these changes every day.
Meaningful
Making changes for changes sake, won’t work. Unless the changes mean something to you, unless you are emotionally ready to make the change you won’t stick to it. So find meaning in your goal. For example, you want to exercise more to lower your blood pressure as you have family history of heart disease. Seeing your children grow is important to you, and making these changes will mean you will reduce your risk factors.
Welcome to 2017 and a beautiful New Zealand Summer! The start of a New Year is often a time when people set resolutions or goals for the coming year. I am sure we have all heard about ‘SMART’ goals, Specific, Measureable, Achievable. Realistic and Time-lined.
I believe 2017 will be everything you want it to be
