Lower Village Creek Watershed My artifacts date back almost 9000 years ! So you are not the first visitor here . I represent the hunter gatherers to whom I give thanks , As I was named by those who lived along my banks . A battle was fought very near where I flow , Not quite my best moment , yes , I know . I ’ m located just north of Arlington ’ s big lake , Exploring my area will be a piece of cake ! What am I ? Hint : You can access me from Dottie Lynn Parkway
Trinity Tributaries Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate ? – my goodness and oh my ! I know it ’ s quite a mouthful but give pronouncing my name a try ! Well , if that ’ s too much , my nickname is gypsum , and I ’ m quite prevalent here , I ’ m found around in three different forms and one of them is crystal clear ! There ’ s diverse flora and fauna , and trees of beautiful green , But the most fun part is seeing the goats come in and make my area clean ! You ’ ll enjoy my area ’ s pedestrian bridge and soft surface trail loop , Enjoy coming here to explore alone or even as a group ! Where am I ? Hint : You can find me off Brown Blvd in Arlington .
Upper Village Creek Watershed I am in the watershed that ’ s upside down , Upper is Lower when you look at my town . I ’ m not a creek , but I do well to conserve , The spaces that precious wildlife and nature deserve , I wear a “ cape ” and my “ hart ” on my sleeve , I ’ m a place so calming you won ’ t want to leave . I have a high bluff with dramatic views , And a boardwalk and fishing pier , so spread the news ! I ’ m just shy of 60 – acres , NOT years ! I opened in 2013 to the delight of your peers . So here I sit , awaiting your visit ! The nature I protect is so exquisite ! What am I ? Hint : I was named after one of Arlington ’ s long serving councilwomen .
Rush Creek Watershed Tucked away in one of the city ’ s most popular parks , My nature elements are a work of art , I was the creation of one amazing free spirit , And I am maintained by those who still endear it . I am a living lab and tranquil retreat , Where you ’ ll hear bird songs and see butterflies – so sweet . I started as ½ acre and have now expanded into four ! A place for tree huggers , young and old to explore . If I had a penny for every visiting scholar , My caretakers would surely hoot and “ hollar .” What am I ? Hint : I can be found in Veteran ’ s Park .
Johnson Creek Watershed I am not Stonehenge , but many people compare ! Some of me rests in Johnson Creek , and other parts in open air . I have two names derived from Celtic , but my father is Norm Hines , He created me to blend nature and art , with lots of visitors in mind . Each piece of me has a name though , five of them in all , And those who see us are often mesmerized because we are quite tall . In this hunt , we are near areas so serene , One of us stands in the park named for former Mayor Richard Greene . What am I / are we ? Hint : We are very close to the Entertainment District .
Lynn Creek Watershed It ’ s time to put your skills to the test , Are you cleverer than the rest ? You ’ ll find my watershed in Arlington south , Sorry , I am nowhere near the Trinity ’ s mouth . I have a close cousin , but we aren ’ t exactly the same , I open my fields to play your game . Balls and a wedge are not welcome here , You ’ ll need to throw at my baskets , just to be clear . Like my cousin , you ’ ll need a driver and putter , And my game is fast-growing like no other ! What am I ? Hint : You can find me quietly tucked away where higher learning is underway !
Cottonwood Creek Watershed Not north , or south , or west , but east , This is where you ’ ll find my cozy seat . I ’ m in the Cottonwood watershed , but I ’ m not a tree , And you can ’ t quite visit me without paying a fee . One of my best features is my indoor pool , But you can check out books too – so cool ! Recreation and reading all in one place , Take things in , all at your pace . You can ’ t watch birds or camp in a tent , I ’ m more part of the built environment . What am I ? Hint : You can find me on New York Ave .
Bowman Branch Watershed I draw people into my light every single day , My name quite literally gives it away , I am not a creek or trail , or park or ranch , Although I overlook part of Bowman Branch , But with all the things to do here , you won ’ t miss being outside , I am one of a kind and “ beaming ” with pride ! What am I ? Hint : You can see me from Webb Community Park .
Walnut Creek Watershed Who I am is quite unique ! Because I don ’ t reside on an Arlington street . So unless you want to admit defeat , Off to Mansfield , TX for your final treat . I have a tree house , an overlook , and a replica windmill , A visit to me is such a thrill ! I have two names , so I ’ m easy to find , You ’ ll find me at the point where two ecoregions align . Who am I ? Hint : Debbie Lane is to the North of me .
Fish Creek Watershed Lovingly known as the trail of two cities , I link together Arlington and Grand Prairie , I start where the kids play ball and “ crave ” a good time , And end across the Tarrant County line . I ’ m over 7 miles long with wildlife galore ! So please be mindful as you walk and explore ! What am I ? Hint : I start at Matlock and Cravens Park Drive .
