STROUP STEPPING DOWN AS LONGTIME CHAIR
OF SBAND TITLE STANDARDS COMMITTEE
Since 1998, Fargo lawyer Bob Stroup II has chaired the Title Standards committee of
SBAND’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, a group he has been a member of
since the early 1970s. Stroup stepped down as chair of the committee in December,
although he is continuing as a member. The new chair is Jeff Ledbetter of Lisbon.
Stroup’s area of specialty throughout his career has been real estate law. He graduated
from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1967 and practices with
Kennelly Law in Fargo. In 2012, Best Lawyers named him the Fargo Real Estate
Lawyer of the Year.
Stroup has given numerous seminars on real property law, mortgage foreclosures and
bankruptcy, and he is an annual presenter at the Real Property and Trust Seminar,
which is held every December.

the Title Standards committee meets between
five to seven times a year. At these meetings
the members discuss proposed title standards
as they relate to real estate issues.

“We also watch for changes in laws made by
