TWO ORGANIZATIONS , ONE MISSION ... HERE ’ S THE DIFFERENCE .

THE SPORTSMEN ’ S ALLIANCE : 501 ( C ) 4

The Alliance was founded to provide legislative lobbying services to protect hunting , fishing and trapping . All the direct and grassroots lobbying work to influence state and federal legislative issues , state-based ballot issues , and state and federal regulations are conducted by the Alliance . Contributions to the Alliance are typically not tax deductible by individuals ; however , corporations with a stake in the outdoors field may be able to deduct contributions as an ordinary business expense .

LEGISLATIVE LOBBYING The bulk of our day-to-day work during the legislative season is filled with analyzing , tracking and fighting or supporting bills impacting sportsmen . The email alerts you receive to take action and prefilled comment campaigns are functions of the Alliance ’ s lobbying effort .
BALLOT INITIATIVES The impetus for the creation of the Alliance , ballot initiatives threaten our heritage when a simple majority of citizens , swayed by emotional rhetoric and not science , votes to end a hunting method . Sportsmen are 13-5 when the Alliance is heavily involved in ballot fights . When we ’ re not , the record is 3-14 .
REGULATION More often than not , state and federal regulation changes impact hunters , anglers and trappers to a greater extent than legislation . The Alliance works to protect sportsmen from arduous or unfair regulation ( see pg . 16 ), and when necessary , holding regulators themselves accountable through legal means by our Foundation ( see pg . 13 ).
