We're Bonkers for Bunco! Since its introduction at Shrine Mont this past June, Bunco has become quite popular here at Resurrection. Bunco is a fun and easy game using dice that can be played by anyone school-aged and up, making it a great opportunity to get acquainted. Everyone enjoyed themselves at Shrine Mont—so much that it was difficult not playing into the wee hours. Of course, we had our church service the next morning so we realized that we’d better get some sleep. The game takes a few minutes to learn and, even though it’s all the luck of the roll, everyone has a great time. At our July Bunco game, Kathy Graham brought her brother, Tim, who ended up being the big winner of several categories and prizes. It was so wonderful to see Tim so happy and proud. At the August game night, there was no single winner, but, since we played two rounds, a lot more people had the chance to win. There was plenty to eat and the hot dog dinner was a hit. A reflection for Pet Blessing Day Saint Francis is my favorite saint of all times. I really connect with his teachings and his whole belief. He loved all living creatures and really connected with nature. He was the seeker to build a peaceful world through self-awareness, selfless behavior, and respect for the physical world, fraternal love and service to others. His teaching focused on seeking out and alleviating the suffering of others. So when I learned that The Church of Resurrection hosts the blessing of the pets in honor of St. Francis, I was totally attracted to this community. This was a special day for me and my beloved Nikky who had been my best friend for the past 16 years. It was a special day that we looked forward to each year. Last year was even more special as I look back, knowing that I needed to cherish all these special moments as Nikky was getting more mature and her fragile life was being compromised. I always was amazed how well she behaved in church; she enjoyed getting dressed in the morning and she knew that Sunday was our specia
