Will Alexandria City support this project? Does it have money to do so?
While Alexandria may not have the resources to provide loans that
other jurisdictions do, the developers that have been consulted all feel
that it is a financially viable project and private funding sources would
be forthcoming. In addition, there is a strong belief that the Alexandria
Office of Housing and City Council will like the idea because affordable/workforce housing has been reduced dramatically in the re-design
of the Beauregard corridor. Thus far our experience has been positive.
?
Many of us may shut down over this idea but think about it carefully.
The more you think about it the more viable it will become in your
mind. A physical plant is not us. We need a way to stay as “us.”
?
The building is a space that holds many memories for us, but we are not
losing anything as long as we stay together.
During the next five weeks, the Re-Visioning Committee asks the
congregation to pray, think and converse about these questions:
? How does the bold idea advance our mission and fit with our
church family?
? Can we find a way to work together on this idea and support
it? How can we improve it?
? Are there other ideas that the Committee missed that should
be considered?
Could this be the next stepping-stone in our church mission?
The Re-Visioning Committee has set up a series of opportunities for members
to meet with the Committee at the church. The remaining ones are:
?
Sunday, October 6, at 7 pm
?
Sunday, October 13, at 12 noon, following the forum.
The Committee will also set up one-on-one meetings with as many parishioners
as possible to hear more about their thoughts on the future of Resurrection,
what talents/expertise they are willing to share, and what ministries are of
interest to them.

Welcome to The Spire!
New and improved!
For your edification and
delight!
The Communications Committee
(also new and improved, convened
by our Priest in Charge Jo Belser and
now led by Beth Wiggers) has made
changes to the layout and content
formats of The Spire, our monthly
newsletter.
There will be recurring monthly
articles from our Jo and from our
Re-Visioning/Transfiguration
Committee. In anticipation of the
50th anniversary of Church of the
Resurrection, Kat Turner will present
individual parishioner vignettes from
50 years, 50 profiles. We will also
include periodic reports from the
Vestry Wardens and Treasurer as
well.
Most importantly, The Spire will
feature YOU! Your stories about our
ministries and mission, about your
walk with Christ outside of our
church community. There is room
for all you want to share:
? from outreach and parish life,
? from worship and prayer,
? from forums and fellowship.
Please submit your articles via e-mail
to [email protected].
Assignments for those serving as
Lectors/Ushers/etc. on the
following Sunday and schedules of
dates/times/places for upcoming
events are published weekly in
e-Notes. Those announcements will
appear in The Spire.
Do let us know what you think of
the new Spire.
