A Caterpillar Gets Used to Changes
At the Meeting Center with Zach the Caterpillar
This is a story about a caterpillar whose name is Zach. Zach the caterpillar
lives in Eden Forest, a special place called where group of Special Eden
Creatures live around Eden Pond. Caterpillars have many legs and crawl
from place to place very slowly.
Winter was at its end and spring around the corner. Zach was hiding behind a leaf in a
blueberry bush. At that very moment, the Special Eden Creatures had gathered for
lunch. Suddenly, they heard a sound like a whimper.

Pearl the parakeet started jumping wildly and shouts, "I hear an unusual squeak."
"Hush," urges Hanna the stork. "Everybody be quiet so we can figure where it's coming
from!' Somebody is weeping. Over there," she points to the blueberry bush.
Mickey the monkey moves some branches and leaves on the blueberry bush. "Guess what
I see! A caterpillar is nibbling away at flowers from the blueberry bush. Tears are
streaming from his eyes. "

The Special Eden Creatures were concerned about a caterpillar crying, and wanted to help.
Hanna the stork says, "Spring time brings many changes to nature." Mickey the monkey
adds, "Buds of plants will soon become flowers, and there'll be no lack of what to eat."
Zach spouts out, "and I will have to undergo a drastic change in my life. After only a month
since I grew from an egg, I'm supposed to wind myself up in a cocoon, and I can't figure
out why that has to be."
Tinsy the ant is deeply moved and comes close and tries to encourage Zach, "That is truly
sad but you know, not one from amongst our group hasn't had to deal with the burdens
of life. Be strong and have courage, everything always works out in the end."
Gerry the giraffe, who usually kept his neck straight, bends down until he is eye level with
Mickey the monkey, "I have an idea for you," she offered. All the "Special Eden
Creatures" joined Gerry and said in unison, "Go to the one creature who knows
everything; Ollie the Wise Old Owl."

Ollie, the owl sleeps all day. He can see far into the distance with his big round eyes. Owls
have a very special hoot that can be heard everywhere in Eden Forest. Ollie the wise
old owl always asks many questions. "Who?", "when?", "where?", "what?", and "why?"
He always knows exactly what to do in every situation.
Chana the stork offered to escort Zach the caterpillar to Ollie's old oak in a hope to get
there before the setting of the sun." The rest of the Special Eden Creatures were bedding
down to sleep.
