University of Arizona
Hello, Southwest CKI’ ers! Since we last saw you, UofA CKI has participated in quite a few events! We lent a hand at Kiwanis Relays, participated in and fundraised for Relay for Life, showed our appreciation for educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, and helped Beads of Courage at Cyclovia Tucson! Additionally, we had an end of the year BBQ Social at our local park, and held our last meeting of the semester. UofA CKI ' s last meeting of the semester was bittersweet! We were visited by Betty Misch and Tom Chaffin, who belong to Tucson Sunshine Kiwanis! We also presented our member of the month to our star member, Cristy Solis, who goes out of her way to make sure that CKI does the best it can at our various events! Finally, we presented our former president, John McMullen, with a scrapbook in order to thank him for all the service and dedication he has given to our club. Although saying good-bye for the summer was hard, our board can ' t wait for next year so that we can begin implementing some new changes that we feel will help our club grow stronger as a family, and get our members more excited about service, leadership, and fellowship than ever before!( Pictures left to right) P. 1: At Kiwanis Relay, UA CKI helped out with the long jump event for the 6th and 7th graders. Kiwanis holds this event each year for the local middle and high schools. P. 2: UA CKI participated at the University of Arizona ' s Relay for life on April 19th. We were able to raise about $ 750 through fundraising before the event, and by selling puppy chow at the event! P. 3: Teacher ' s Day at the UA was a free event held for educators in order to show our appreciation for the many contributions they make to our community, as well as provide workshops and seminars that focused on professional development. UA CKI was able to help distribute lunch, and meet many of the teacher ' s that attended this event. P. 4 & 5: At our BBQ social UA CKI members got to enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by our own, Zach Gastelum! Additionally, it was a chance for members to relax, play games, and hang out as well as celebrate the year coming to an end. P. 6: Last meeting of the semester!
