Dear Southwest District CKI Members,
This is a call to action to help unite our
Southwest District Kiwanis Family!! As you know, Kiwanis membership numbers have declined consistently over the last several years. We are dying and we need YOU to help us bring fun and energy back to our membership! Our focus for next year is to“ Unite Our Kiwanis Family”. We need our organizations to spend more time together bonding over service, socials and fundraising opportunities. I know your youthful enthusiasm will inspire us to be FUN again!! Your first opportunity will come July 27th. I’ m inviting ALL of you to the SWD Kiwanis Convention being held on the West side of Phoenix at the Wigwam Resort. We are encouraging CKI and Key Club Members to join us for the Saturday events of the convention. All-Day activities include: Building hygiene kits for children in foster care. Test your detective skills by following clues in the Treasure Hunt. Earn“ valuable” prizes by collecting tokens just by participating in activities! The scheduled activities include: 6:30 Eliminate Walk – Performing during the walk will be the Millennium High School Marching Band! 8:00 Sessions Begin – Come hear John Shertzer, the Kiwanis International Senior Director of Kiwanis Programs, talk about our Service Leadership Programs and his work as he serves as liaison to the Kiwanis International Board and Kiwanis International Committees that work with the Service Leadership Programs. 12:00 Service Leadership Luncheon – There will be a performance by Spotlight Youth Theater followed by informative updates from K-Kids, Builder’ s Club, Key Club, CKI and Aktion Club members!!!
2:30-3:30 – Our own Kiwanis International President Tom DeJulio will be just one of the motivational instructors that will be teaching classes such as Conflict Resolution, Multigenerational Communication, Mastering Social Media, How to Sell Your Club and much more! 3:45 – Come to the House of Delegates where we will elect our Governor and Governor Elect for next year! 6:00 – The evening banquet will begin with a rousing performance from Key Club Superstar Charles Yang!! During the evening, I need you to help me with an inspirational message by performing a FLASH MOB together!!!!! Immediately following the banquet, we have a live band and dancing! And you can have all this for the low, low cost of only $ 65!! This fee pays for your lunch and dinner on Saturday along with the activities and sessions listed above. It is an event that will not soon be forgotten! Don’ t miss out! Registrations must be postmarked by July 15th! I need YOU this year to help us“ Unite our Kiwanis Family”!! I’ m so excited!!!
