Western New Mexico University Western New Mexico University CKI is excited to get started this semester and is focused on building membership and being active with service. Summer is a hard time to do very much, because so many students go home or are away for summer; yet, lots of exciting things are being planned for the new semester, including a kickoff bowling party. WNMU CKI is working closely with the Kiwanis Club of Silver City. Earlier this month several students, were in the area, got together to start on a project for Eliminate. They made special collection jars for Eliminate. These jars have on the inside pieces of blue and white tissue paper (the colors of Eliminate) adhered to the jar, making a pretty jar. Jars were decorated by students and they also involved some younger youth, getting them involved in the service project, sharing how just $1.80 can save a life! WNMU CKI is teaming up with Kiwanis members to place these jars in the community and also across offices on campus. For a month, they will manage these collection jars for donations to Eliminate. Photos include working on jars as well as when WNMU CKI presented the project at Kiwanis Club of Silver City meeting.
