Rio Grande Division Update CKI Leadership Academy in Indianapolis was an incredible experience. I encourage CKI members to apply for this lifechanging and inspiring leadership camp next year. It is so worth the time! Three of us from Southwest District attended. The camp fee is minimal. The biggest expense is air fare, but if you plan early, it is so worth the investment. Also, attending the Kiwanis Southwest District Convention was fantastic. There were eleven of us CKIers in attendance representing the Southwest District. I was also pleased to do an original painting, on behalf of WNMU CKI, that was part of the Kiwanis convention’s silent auction to raise funds for scholarships. I hope that next year, each CKI club will donate to their silent auction. Also a huge congratulation is extended to Kiwanis Southwest District Governor, Windy Mortenson. She is an inspiration to us all! Next year, their convention will be in El Paso. I hope more of us can go and show our support for all the Kiwanis makes possible for us! I look forward to working with WNMU and NMSU CKI to see their clubs grow and to do great things for service in their communities. It is my hope that we can get a new club started at UTEP. We are so fortunate in the Rio Grande Division to have such great support by Kiwanis from our CKI Administrator, Bob Carson; to CKI Associate Administrator, Lori Bonomo; to Kiwanis Division 7 Lt. Governor, Mike Dallago. I look forward to traveling our region, strengthening Kiwanis relations, working with CKI clubs, building new ones, doing service, and reaching out to work with Tianna Zambrano-Key Club Lt. Governor. Together, we are one big-powerful family, who can be the change we want to see in the world. This is going to be great school year! Respectfully Submitted, Serina Pack Interim President WNMU CKI, Past President 2012-13; CKI Lieutenant Governor Rio Grande Division www.readforjoy.org 6
