Summer 2020
T
he Source is hosting a Craft and
Design Pop-Up Market over a series
of Saturdays in May (9th and 30th) and
June (6th and 27th) to introduce and support
the wealth of Irish handcrafted work that is
happening in Thurles and the broader region.
Times are 11am - 5pm each Saturday and all
are welcome to come on in, shop or just
browse the array of handcrafted talent
and meet the makers. There are a limited
number of stalls left. Send an email to:
[email protected] for further
information.
T
he Bealtaine Festival is happening across
the country during May and one of the
interesting events presented by Tipperary
Libraries is docu-drama ‘The Pauper Priest’, a 45
minute show from Dreamtime Theatre about Fr.
John Barry whose centenary is this year. Barry
was a regular visitor to the workhouses of
Tipperary. Appalled by the cruelty and corruption
he found there, he wrote scathingly about the
conditions and the policies that allowed it
to happen. The show is written and directed
by Paul Maher and performed by Liam
O’Maoldhomhnaigh and Bob Russell and takes
place in the Gallery Space at The Source/Thurles
Library on Tuesday 5th May.
T
he Source is working on a new strategy for the Centre that will run from late 2020 into
2023 and we need your input. The strategy is being created to give some guidance in
developing the Centre over the medium term. The Source looks to work in and support
all artforms, within available resources and the creation of a strategy allows for some focus in
suggesting where these should be deployed in future. We’ll be having some public consultation
around this in April and May, but you are also welcome to email us at: [email protected]
