SPRING 2020 Travelling Tales Upperchurch writer and actor Aine Ryan’s new play ‘Paddy Goes To Petra’ comes to The Source this spring. She tells us a little about it and her life on stage Áine, where did your love of performing come from growing up and where did you study acting after school? I always loved it. I started off performing in plays in Upperchurch N.S at the Christmas concerts etc. and doing Novelty Acts for Scór. At home I was always making up scenarios with my sisters to act out. Also, growing up in a pub where lots of people were coming to sing and perform I was always around it. I did a theatre and performance degree at University and then I did a course in TV 22 The Source Arts Centre production in Waterford which has helped me a lot with developing story. How did your first play ‘Kitty In The Lane’ come about? I wrote a dissertation for university which was about young female characters in Irish drama and after all the research I felt able to write my own character with a unique voice.
