STRENGTHENING SCHOOLS
The Sonder Project works to improve education access and quality in rural communities beyond sponsoring students by partnering with school and community leadership to identify opportunities. Over the years, this has included installing water systems, constructing classrooms and latrines, and donating textbooks with the goal of ensuring all students and teachers can thrive in a healthy school environment. Below are 2024’ s key achievements:

A Solar Water System for Kawiya
In 2023, The Sonder Project drilled a well at Kawiya Secondary School in Malawi. In 2024, we upgraded it to a solar-powered water system serving 600 people— students, staff, and surrounding communities. Clean water now reaches dormitories, classrooms, kitchens, and homes, improving health, enrollment, attendance, and teacher retention— creating a stronger, more supportive learning environment.
