his optimistic attitude is what led him to his successes as well as his professors who he would like to thank, Dr. Narro and Dr. Mirando.

While his award winning projects have helped him increase his experience, he stresses that leadership within small group organizations give real-world experience and grants an upper hand in the working world. He played a big role in the Communication organization known as, “BEA” or the “Broadcast Education Association.” He was the Head Director of a News segment for the association and cooperatively led students to make and record their own news stories and start creating their own demo reels. His leadership and involvement prepared many students for the reporting world and he gained intimate experience working with others to create content for a college audience.

Involvement on the college campus through small organizations like the BEA have their merit in helping students become more successful in their career. Students at a public university in the southeast completed a survey titled “The Student Development Task and Lifestyle Inventory” at the beginning of their first year, beginning of their sophomore year, and end of their senior year. Statistically, more involved students reported greater development in moving through towards independence and building their identity by finding a purpose in a related organization. Uninvolved students had lower developmental scores. Students who joined or led organizations reported more development than those who just attended meetings.
