lumni from the University of Southeastern Louisiana, Jeremy Luke Rhodes, offers some advice of how important it is to take your Communication major seriously and his wisdom he has learned along the way, on his path to becoming a Marketing Producer for WAFB for Baton Rouge. He has been awarded a Gold Remi in the category of College Level Student Film for his involvement and success in “The Messenger”, at the annual WorldFest International Film and Video Festival in Houston, Texas, as well as winning individual awards in his multiple submissions at the Southeast Journalism Conference Championships
SEJC). At the height of his college career he continued to succeed placing top senior thesis in his graduating class.
Rhodes is one of many Alumni who have graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University (SELU) in the field of Communication, but what makes him stand out is his ability to put his mind towards his goals:
“I bet on myself. I was placed last in Radio News
Journalism at the SEJC 2016 competition and I
competed the next year
and got first place. I possibly had the lowest cumulative GPA in my entire 498 graduating class,but won best thesis overall. I am not saying this to gloat, but rather using myself as an example that whatever fears hold you back from completing that project, or getting that job, by betting on yourself you will learn hidden talents and achieve unattainable goals that might as well be myth.”
