After graduation, there are many avenues when looking for an occupation. Alumnae from Southeastern Louisiana University, explains her experience in the entertainment industry: The transition from college experience to real-world situations and how to adapt when communicating with a team.
Bruno, has learned many skills to better herself in her career, and is currently working on the show “Louisiana Film Channel” which will act as a platform for local filmmakers to showcase their films.
ourtney Bruno is an alumnae from Southeastern and currently a producer and director for WLFT-TV. Her focus in her career is mainly on entertainment production. Her responsibilities include organizing for in-house and out-house productions and editing commercials. She believes her experience she gained from Southeastern was a good start for her career, “I was a producer for College Night, an entertainment show at the Southeastern Channel, as well as the former president of the BEA (Broadcast Education Association). In both I led a team and made quality entertainment.” Her work at Southeastern has granted her merit for her hard work. In 2017, 32 universities registered for the 2017 Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC). Twenty-one universities and 177 students were represented among the 2017 onsite competition winners, Courtney Bruno was placed third in television reporting in spring of 2017. Months later in the fall, Bruno placed third for her creative video “The Channel”, at the Dallas College Media Association film festival. Her prior work for the Southeastern Channel, as a producer, editor, and director, had progressed her to win such awards and even gain her current position at WLFT-TV.
