Bicycle trip planned for Upland Green- way—Page 2 The By Ron Sutherland The Upland Area Gre- enways Association is pleased to announce that the $15,000 of funds needed to complete the purchase of the Deta- more home on Main to enlarge the Upland trail head have been identi- fied. The UAGA thanks the Detamore family for the gracious support of the UAGA by allow- ing us to purchase this home (effective May 26, 2017). We are so grateful to all of our donors and friends who have made this purchase possible. Great progress is excit- ing! We continue to wait to hear from the State of In- diana about our $200,000 RTP grant award. As part of that process, we have agreed not to do any work on the removal of the home or establish- ment of the trail head un- til their decision is final. The final decision should be announced sometime in July. That grant we applied for consisted of a trail made of of com- pressed stone that will go west from our trail head along the train tracks for ½ of a mile and then south for ½ of a mile. We continue to raise funds more money to be able to pave this new trail. We are feeling very blessed to partner with the residents and organi- zations of Upland in this exciting development.
