Epworth UMC to hold noodle dinner

Epworth United Methodist Church , 105 W 8th St . in Matthews , Indiana will have their annual Chicken Noodle Dinner on Sunday , March 26 , 2017 . EUMC is known for their noodles served at Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival and this is an opportunity to enjoy a delicious homemade chicken and noodle dinner prepared in the same tradition . Serving will be from 11:45 am to 1:30 pm , and the community is invited to dine in or carry out . We welcome other church congregations to join us following their services . Dinners include chicken and noodles , mashed potatoes , green beans , rolls , beverage , and dessert . Free will donations for the meal will be gratefully accepted for the EUMC Concert Outreach

Ministry Fund , which helps enable us to offer concerts at the lowest admission charges possible . This outreach provides an opportunity to experience Christ through the power of music by accomplished , nationally known gospel artists . Browders in concert at Epworth UMC

Epworth United Methodist Church , 105 W 8th St , Matthews , Indiana is pleased to announce The Browders In Concert on Thursday , March 23 , 2017 at 7:00 pm ( Doors will open at 6:00 pm ). Admission is $ 10 at the door . Also , a love offering will be received . After the concert , there will be a meet and greet time with free refreshments served .

Armed with an abundance of talent and fueled by an unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel , The Browders are rapidly becoming one of Christian music ’ s most acclaimed groups . The family band ’ s previous album spawned three # 1 singles and paved the way for their latest album Time Machine which has produced 7 consecutive # 1 songs on the Singing News charts !

Family patriarch Tommy began singing gospel music at age five despite being stricken with polio . In 1990 , Tommy felt God calling him to tour with his family and since then The Browders ’ career has steadily gained momentum .

He is joined by his sons Matthew , David , and Matthew ’ s wife Sonya . Their 2006 album Be a Light yielded the group ’ s first top ten hit “ Stand Up For Jesus .” Their 2009 album , The Message , produced seven top ten singles , including three No . 1 songs- “ Praise You In This Valley ,” “ Message Of The Cross ,” and “ Land Of No Goodbyes ” - Voted “ Breakthrough Artist of the Year ” at the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards in 2013 , and 2014 Dove Award Nominee for “ Inspirational Song of the Year .”

Upland Lions Club seniors lunch

Today at the Upland Lions Club Senior Activity Center , after they enjoyed a lunch of Chicken Parmesan , Baked Potato , Mixed Vegetables , Dinner Roll with honey , Jello and Cookies , Frank Garinger of Upland gave a program on his hobby of beekeeping and harvesting their honey . He told why and how the bees produce honey . He brought pieces of his equipment to share his harvesting operation to get the honey ready to sell . Even though the Senior diners enjoyed honey on their dinner rolls , Frank had plenty of honey for sale .

Next Wednesday , the Senior meal will be Ham & Beans , Fried Potatoes , Corn Bread , and Frozen Cherry Delight . The activity is Bingo .

Upland UMC to observe Ash Wednesday March 1

Upland United Methodist Church will be observing Ash Wednesday on March 1 at 6:30pm . We will be celebrating communion and offering the imposition of ashes . Everyone is welcome .

Student Leadership Conference coming to Taylor

Gather is the theme of the National Student Leadership Conference ( NSLC ), Taylor University ’ s annual conference that draws student leaders from colleges campuses throughout the United States . The event is scheduled for February 24-25 on the Taylor campus .
