Friendly Competition: Ultimate
On a pleasant, sunny day during Memorial Day weekend, Phi Delta Chi brothers participated in a joint recruitment event with the brothers of Kappa Psi. Candidates and brothers took to the field in Arrigo Park to play football in an ultimate frisbee fashion; each team was a blend consisting of phi delta chi, kappa psi, and candidate components. Players worked together under the sweltering, competitive atmosphere to push their team to the end zone. Although there were plenty of gaffs in the beginning, magnificent plays emerged as the heterogeneous teams became homogenous in mindset. At the end of game time, one team emerged victorious but both felt a sense of accomplishment and unity. After the game, all the participants took a nice, gentle stroll down Taylor Street to cool off with some refreshing bubble tea.
Knowledge Check: Trivia
Brothers and candidates brought their knowledge to the table(s) at Hawkeye’s for a nice, relaxing but competitive night of trivia. Despite taking place during a school night, a boisterous and large group was in attendance to compete for the ultimate display of knowledge. Tables put their heads together to answer questions, solve picture puzzles, and debate how many points to wager. Questions were imposed over a variety of topics, ranging from current events to pop culture and ancient history. As all the participants in this recruitment event were pharmacy students, a strong adherence to ethics was imposed with no cheating occurring. As the night came to a close, one of our teams came close to victory. Everyone is looking forward to next year!
