do light physical warm up to release any kind of tension . I go through my setlist and make mental notes of things I could do in between the songs . A thorough sound check before the concert is a must , to make sure the monitor mix and mic levels are comfortable for performance . Voice rest before the concert really does wonders for me as well . Right before getting on stage , I pray and stay focused on enjoying the experience .
Could you share a memorable onstage experience that has deeply impacted you as a performer ?
Vasuda : One of my biggest highs is connecting with my audience while performing live . I have had multiple experiences onstage when I felt like one with them . We were both singing along , dancing along , in complete sync , creating a sense of unity and shared emotion .
It ’ s a really special moment when that happens and that has been one of my major driving forces to keep doing what I am doing .
In a digital era , how do you leverage the online space to connect with your audiences ?
Vasuda : Being active on social media , sharing updates about music projects , bts content , personal stories etc ., engaging through comments , interactions and live streams are all the activities i am involved in apart from making music . In this digital era , utilizing platforms like YouTube to share music videos , lyrics videos live performances or any visual content helps create a stronger connection with the audience .
I also reach out to a wider audience by distributing my music across digital streaming platforms . While this space can be demanding sometimes , keeping one ’ s online presence active with consistent updates really helps keep the audience engaged .
As an artist , songwriter , and music producer , how do you balance your creative roles and ensure each aspect complements the other ?
Vasuda : Music making for me is a very organic process . Writing and composing my own songs came naturally to me . The role of being a music producer came up with a need to present my own artistic vision . So I feel my music is a reflection of my individuality and creative expression .
As an artist , when inspiration comes to me , I put those ideas down and seamlessly the songwriter takes over . Once the song reaches the scratch stage of having the basic composition and arrangement , I switch to being a producer thinking about how to make the song reach its full creative potential . One key point which remains constant throughout the process of music making is the priority given to creativity and experimentation in all the roles .
Talk to us about the production process of “ Manwa Bhaagey ” and ” Satb Kataar meih ”
Vasuda : ‘ Manwa Bhaagey ’ talks about going back to the roots , to childhood . It evokes a sense of nostalgia . I wanted to give it a very raw , earthy yet dreamy feel .
One of my very dear and super talents friends Sanjoy Das , completely understood the vision and worked on a beautiful guitar arrangement . The song also features a beautiful string section by Krishna Raj that evokes a feeling of longing and nostalgia .
‘ Kataar Mein ’ is an outright Rock n Roll song by my band ‘ Sharma And The Besharams ’ I finished writing the lyrics and melody along with a basic arrangement and the rest of the boys jam on that same structure , altering , tweaking , changing , adding , subtracting all resulting in a collaborative creative process , where each member contributes their unique skills and ideas .
What challenges did you face while establishing your independent music label , and how has this journey contributed to your growth as an artist ?
Vasuda : Oh ! ‘ Song Nest ’ has just been born . Perhaps a year from now I could talk about the challenges at length . :)
Looking ahead , what ’ s in store for us ?
Vasuda : I am thrilled to have launched my own indie music label ‘ Song Nest ’ that will soon be the playground for new collaborations and aspiring artists to release their songs .
I have a few wonderful collaborations in the pipeline as well . I am excited about working on a song with Akanksha Sethi , a promising singer-songwriter with a velvet voice . Apart from that i am writing some songs for ‘ Sharma & The Besharams ’ and producing some music for a few indie artists .
