What inspired you to launch your independent music label , ‘ Song Nest ’? Is there a back story ?
Vasuda : I have been part of the music industry since 2003 and more so of the indie music industry for more than a decade . As an indie musician I have always enjoyed the artistic freedom and control over the creative direction and my musical output . It has been my dream to work out a model that provides the same environment and opportunities to new and upcoming talent along with the resources to help them navigate the music industry independently . ‘ Song Nest ’ is that endeavor .
What ’ s your journey of transitioning from being a part of the pop band “ Aasma ” to becoming a successful independent artist and music producer ?
Vasuda : My journey from being a pop star to an independent musician has been both challenging as well as liberating . Pop star life was one with a lot of glamor and fame , performing in sold-out concerts , and having chart-topping hits . Having the support and backing of major music labels , extensive promotional campaigns , and a team of professionals supporting your career were some of the perks that came with it .
