I had the fortune of starting music and singing very early .
I always wrote poetry , so I am working towards something with my poetry as well because that ’ s been the first catharsis and then merging poetry and music is songwriting I sup-pose .
So , that started way back .
Even when I was busy and working , I had the discipline to keep writing songs . I have 50-60 unre-leased songs . I record them . When I record them , I put them down in a structure and sorts . It ’ s more like a joyful discipline .
I never been listening to , or making music towards a goal or an achievement other than the fact that it gives me immense joy . It works as a catharsis in every conceivable sense . When you love something , you make somehow , make the time to do it .
Shruti , tell us , what inspired the creation of ‘ Monster Machine ’? How did you bring these different facets of womanhood to life into this song ?
It just had to come out . You have that feeling like you have to say something and you get stuck . I felt like that for a long time . I just let that go and go through with it .
Being in therapy , going through sobriety , going through all those patterns , I realised that I love the darkness and the dark corners .
I love being a misfit and I love celebrating what I ’ ve been told continuously is unacceptable . You shouldn ’ t have the rage .
I want to own that and I want to set it to pitch .
So , I was having a conversation with Shantanu about some random things and I said , I was ac-cused so much about so many things , so I need you to be the monster , not the man .
What I need is the monster to match the monster in me . A monster is genderless and timeless .
