She decided to learn a few more chords , and then a few more , and then some more . As a teenager Peekay was into rock music , and with her existing knowledge and skills , she began performing at various venues . Her family was always there to back her . This relentless support marked the beginning of an artist who exemplifies the importance of music , performances , and their relationship with each other . At the age of 17 , Pranati sought out to test if she was really good at music by choosing to take up corporate gigs and playing in front of complete strangers . Without a doubt that turned out to be a positive boost in her music career and encouraged her to form the band “ Ragamuffins ”. The creation of this band turned out to be another learning for Pranati in terms of understanding how collaborations work . During the interview , Pranati recalled how she would write a song and it would turn out to be something completely evolved and better once it went through the band .
After the members moved to different locations , the band was dismantled , and Pranati turned to a solo music career . Peekay recalls how over the years people ’ s interest began shifting from rock to jazz , R & B , and Hiphop . Since she was trained as a jazz vocalist , she was curious to see how she would create music in this genre , and how the listeners will react to it . This drew Pranati towards creating solo jazz / pop music .
Peekay has a record when it comes to writing music about dark , complex , and minute yet important feelings . Speaking about her writing process , Peekay said “ I have had a lot of challenges in my life , I have accepted this . A lot of my songs have come out of a place where I have had to struggle . In such situations , I zone out in isolation and I find myself looking at my life from afar . This happens a lot in hotel rooms when I am on tour . I process all the facts and emotions and I can then write them down as prose . Writing songs about dark things
comes from personal experiences , and the positivity in my music comes from the objective outlook towards it .”
For Peekay , making music has been an experiment . She has experimented with genres , processes , and collaborations in her previous singles . Those experiences and learning have now translated into a powerful album . It has heavy rock elements from her Ragamuffin days , music writing techniques from her pop singles , and confidence from her corporate performances .
Talking about her corporate shows , Peekay explained how they helped her to continue to perform with high energy and attract the listeners she was meant to attract . “ There are people with varied tastes in music at every venue . I can look at the ones that walk off , but there are also many that walk in . I try to play music for the ones staying back as they are my real audience . This is something that corporate gigs have taught me , and I think all musicians should
