Pepa : A wind instrument in which the reed pipe is connected to Buffalo horn . Made majorly by Bamboo , and extensively used in Tibet and China for celebratory occasions . Originated in Assam , India and used phenomenally used during Assameese New Year and has its tribal origins .
Algoza : With roots from all the way from Mesapotamia back in 7500 BC and reached the North- Western India ( Current Day Pakistan ). It would be interesting to know that this instrument is also used in Eastern part of the world such as South East Asia . The instrument resembles the flute comprising of 2 flutesone for melody and one for drone ! Isn ’ t it exciting to see a double faced flute ? It shows that our ancestors were much more ahead in musical instruments and sounding .
Ravanhatha : With its Hndu mythological roots , the legend says that it was invented by Lord Hanuman after the victory of Lord Rama . The basic structure resembles today ’ s violin and it is a bow-stringed instrument . It would be downright interesting to know that it is still used by Rajasthani folk musicians . In modern times , this instrument is extensively used by Sri Lankan artist , composer and violinist Dinesh Subasinghe . Ravanahatha literally means the defeat of antagnonist Ravana in the Hindu epic Ramayana .
