and late night gigs only allow for power napping and so it ’ s important to not talk too loudly or exert yourself too much . As for consumables , everything in moderation is fine . I do a basic warmup and some deep breathing to zone in but that ’ s pretty much it .
Have you had any memorable collaborations with other artists so far ? Can you share your thoughts on the collaborative process and how it has influenced your musical journey ?
I ’ ve had the most collaborations with non musical artists . Mostly filmmakers , animators and pop photographers . But my favourite musical collaboration would be the song I did with my grandfather , Play . Writing that song allowed me to listen to and tell his story and to me that ’ s a lifetime achievement that I ’ d be proud to show my children or grandchildren . I hope to do many more like that .
Could you share some insights into your music production process ? Are there any specific gear or equipment that you can ’ t be without while producing your music ?
For me I write the most with the guitar and the piano / keyboard . These are principal instruments and then I have a very basic working knowledge of the others , enough to help me come up with parts , give pointers or programme demos for new songs . I usually record a basic demo on my own to get all the ideas down and then I take them to my band and we put our heads together to tighten up the arrangement or add new parts .
How do you approach blending Indian influences with contemporary sounds in your music ? What do you find most challenging and rewarding about incorporating different musical elements ?
I haven ’ t yet done this successfully because I also find that very few artists have had success in making that blend feel less contrived . I don ’ t think it ’ s necessary if it ’ s something that doesn ’ t come naturally to you because it comes across to the listener one way or another if you force it in just to check a box .
Can you give us a sneak peek into your upcoming projects or any exciting plans for the future ? What can fans expect from your music in the coming months ?
There will be more singles and I plan to be more consistent about releasing them . I ’ m hoping to get out of the country to play some gigs in the next year as well . It ’ s been a long time since that happened . I also will be releasing some collaborative work but that ’ s something j can ’ t talk about yet .
