Your latest music video “ Walk Away ” is out . Could you elaborate about the songwriting for this one ?
Walk Away was written around 8-10 years ago . A close friend of mine was going through a rough breakup at that time , and was finding it hard to get closure from it . I told her what works the best for me is to write about it and I asked her to try but she refused and challenged me to do it . So I write the song on her behalf !
What is the message or story you intended to convey through the lyrics of “ Walk Away ”? How does it relate to your personal experiences or the experiences of others ?
I had just recently broken off from my band to go solo then . I suppose I was channelling a lot of that independence in the lyrics . To me

How do you hope your audience will connect with “ Walk Away ”? Are there any particular emotions or reflections you wish to evoke in listeners through this song ?
People seem to have really taken to the song over the years . Multiple cover versions have been made and released even before I could formally release the song . I think the sentiment of walking away from something or someone toxic is so universal and that ’ s what the listeners relate to the most .
Talk to us about the production process of this track specifically .
About 2 months ago , I figured it was time to finally get Walk Away out there . The more time passed , the more I was excited about newer songs and I was less in touch with the person I was when the song was written . So I called my drummer Jehangir Jehangir and asked him if he would produce it because he himself had seen the song go through so many iterations and had been instrumental in arranging the live version which existed on YouTube since 2016 . I had my band mates ( both old and new ) come in to record their parts . It was done relatively quickly since everyone knew the song so well from playing it live . We wanted to employ a more somber , dark sound for the song . We took the tempo and the key back to what it originally was when it wrote it so in many ways , this version of the song is closer to how it was originally meant to be .
How do you stay motivated and inspired to create new art consistently ? Are there any particular sources of inspiration that fuel your creativity ?
Keeping your mind open to even the smallest stimuli can inspire a new song . For me it ’ s something different every time . Strangely , I haven ’ t yet written a love song !
Can you tell us about a specific project or piece that holds a special place in your heart ? What makes it significant to you ?
It ’ s really difficult to say . I ’ m proud of everything I ’ ve created because I ’ ve been involved with each song at every stage and there have been a whole lot of memories attached the creation of each of them .
In your opinion , what is the importance of collaboration and community in the life of an independent artist ? Highlight your collaborative experiences .
I know a lot of people tend to think of collaborations for musicians to be solely with other musicians , but what I enjoy the most is collaborating with visual artists of different kinds . I enjoy working with new filmmaker ’ s , photographers , designers , animator ’ s and others in the visual space because it brings a new dimension to my musical ideas .
