Grotta dello Smeraldo

The Grotta dello Smeraldo also well known as The Emerald Cave, is a sea cave found in Conca dei Marini, Italy, bellow the Amalfi Coast. Having a surface area of water that measures about 45 lengths and 32 depth. Its cavern roof is about 24 meters above water level. Its characteristics are unique, having a green light flashing inside the cave, which is created by natural sunlight from outside that enters the cave through an underground passage.

You can explore and discover the real beauty of Amalfi by hiking one of the most popular pathways in Italy, The Il Vallone delle Ferriere. This is a 4-mile trail that goes through a wooded area found on top of the town of Amalfi near Ravello. TIP: the real way to see the Amalfi Coast is to hike the seaside paths while appreciating the views from village to village.

When To Go?

According to Trave.UsNews.com, the best time to take a trip to Amalfi is during the spring and the fall and autumn, specifically in between May and September. During these months, there are fewer people and temperatures are it's most comfortable, with highs up to the 70s and 80s. Summer might sound like the ideal option, but both domestic and international fights tend to get full. Winter travel will be great get a deal, but it's also the time where cafes and restaurants close for the season.
