From Thursday 7 August until Sunday 10 August, 18 of Scotland's potential 2015 U19 World Championship squad attended a 'performance weekend' in Edinburgh.

On Thursday, they hosted visiting AIST teams 'Stars' and 'Stripes'. The girls were fresh off of the plane and enjoyed playing the Scottish style of lacrosse. Both groups had never played together as squads and the first halves of both games were very close, though the fresh legs of the American sides played in their favour and the Scottish sides lost 11-3 and 10-3 to both teams. A friendly final two quarters, when the U'19s were bolstered by senior players Jen Allison, Ailsa Stott, Suzie Oliphant amongst others! Inspired by the talent around them, the Scots rallied to beat the mixed Stars and Stripes team 10-4.

The potential U'19s trained Friday and Saturday before travelling to Liverpool on Saturday to take part in the Oxton tournament, held annually at Oxton lacrosse club. A friendly tournament set up to provide more competition for the AIST teams, the 'Bravehearts' faced two England teams, Wales, both AIST teams again, and a local North side. The day went extremely well, with the squad (pictured) finishing 4th overall, with key victories over Wales, North and the AIST stripes team.

All bodes well for the first weekend of the campaign to the Edinburgh World Championships next summer!

Women's National Assistant Coach

Scotland Women's Head Coach Dave Simpson is proud to announce a new assistant coach for the national squad, Lauren Goerz.

As a player, Lauren came out of high school Northern California with All-American honors and played for 4 years at top-rated NCAA Division 1 University of Virginia as a straight defender and as a middie/draw specialist. In her final year she started every game for UVA and as a defender scored a goal versus powerhouse Northwestern. She has been immersed in the highest level of coaching and competition and has a lot to share as our defensive assistant coach.

Lauren recently accepted an LDO (Lacrosse Development Officer) position and has been placed at Malvern St. James and is co-coaching the Birmingham University team.
